Weekly Win
How This Marine Has Accessed Over $538,000

This week, we meet Cody B.

Cody is a Marine from Huntsville who joined right after 9/11 (rahh).

In 2010, 3 combat deployments later, he hung up his boots and moved back home.

He met his wife, Sara, and had a beautiful daughter, opened his own shop, and is obsessed with ATV and off-road. He’s used his veteran status for a leg up every step of the way.

To date, Cody has accessed over $538,000 in veteran programs.

Here’s the breakdown of how he’s using veteran programs to win:

Hidden Benefits

$76k - Cody joined AIDT (a Skillbridge partner program) in Alabama, where he received free welding classes and certifications. This training allowed him to realize his dream of opening up his own business, a welding shop.

$21k - To make his new business successful, Cody took advantage of free business and entrepreneurship classes offered exclusively to veterans through the Small Business Administration (SBA).

$4k - Cody was curious about riding ATVs and found 4W2H. He tagged along for an all-expenses-covered ATV weekend, and fell in love immediately. When he went to buy his quad, he saved even more money through Kawasaki’s military discount.

$1k - Cody’s daughter loves Taylor Swift (but tickets are incredibly expensive and hard to get). He scored free tickets to Taylor Swift for his whole family through Vet Tix.

Priceless - Cody wrote a song for his daughter as part of the CreatiVets songwriting program

VA Benefits

$249k - Cody's service-related injuries qualified him for lifetime disability benefits, providing financial stability for his family.

$187k - Cody transferred his GI Bill benefits to Sara, allowing her to pursue a degree in Engineering. She is now happily employed by Boeing.

If there’s one thing that speaking with Cody taught us it’s that there are ways for veterans to save money doing pretty much ANYTHING.

Cody used his veteran status to put his wife through school, find a new hobby, start a business, and make special memories with his daughter.
